Circumference of the nebari (root collar): 8 cm

Characteristics

Deciduous tree. It belongs to the Rosaceae family.

Native to Asia, this tree is highly appreciated for the color of its copper-black bark, its abundant small white or pink flowers in spring, and its small tart cherries.

Exposure

This cherry tree should be placed outdoors, preferably in full sun. It withstands cold well, but it is recommended to protect it at temperatures of -2°C.

Watering

Abundant in summer and moderate in winter, it is recommended to wait until the substrate is dry before watering it again.

Pruning

Structural pruning is generally done at the end of autumn when it has lost its leaves. Green pruning or pinching is carried out during the growth period from June until the end of autumn. Avoid pinching your tree during flowering.

Fertilizer

From spring to autumn with liquid or solid fertilizer, chemical or organic, according to your preference.

Repotting

The cherry tree is repotted approximately every two years. Repotting is generally done in spring when the buds start to swell. We recommend a draining substrate such as akadama or an akadama-pumice mix.

Particularity

Its fruit is particularly used for marmalade recipes.
