Description

Japanese Dwarf Cherry Plant / Prunus Kojo-No-Mai
Tree height: 18 cm

Tree height with pot: 27 cm

Nebari (root collar) circumference: 0.5 cm

Characteristics

Deciduous shrub (loses its leaves in winter). It belongs to the Rosaceae family.

Originating from Western Asia, it is highly appreciated for its small flowers ranging from white to pink from March to May.

Exposure

The cherry tree is a shrub that should be placed in the sun. In midsummer, it is preferable to move it to partial shade to avoid burning its foliage.

Watering

This is a shrub that needs regular watering; it drinks a lot, especially in summer. However, it should not be waterlogged. In winter, humidity and cold are sufficient, but make sure to water it if the period is very dry.

Pruning

Structural pruning is generally done in late autumn or late winter before the sap rises. Green pruning or pinching is carried out just after the shrub blooms.

Fertilizer

From spring to autumn with liquid or solid fertilizer, chemical or organic, according to your preference.

Repotting

Repotting is done every 2 or 3 years depending on the condition of the substrate and the water drainage through the pot. We recommend a draining substrate such as akadama, an akadama-pumice mix, or a zeolite-chabasite mix.

Particularity

The real highlight of this shrub is the magnificent flowers it reveals in spring. Its twisted trunk gives it true charm, and its small red-orange leaves in autumn make it a continuous spectacle every year.
